Make Sure Your Commercial Litigation Attorney Understands Social Media

Today on anchor.fm, Chris Werner discusses why you should make sure your commercial litigation attorney understands social media. Social media is an incredible source of information relevant to business disputes. The discovery rules in most courts allow you to collect and use information from social media accounts. However, in order to take advantage of this, your litigation attorney needs to understand the platforms.

I’m not suggesting that your attorney needs to be an expert in all things social media, nor do they need to be active on every platform. However, they should be very familiar with the major platforms and should at least be aware of some of the second tier platforms.

If you are hiring a commercial litigation attorney, there are lots of things you need to discuss, but don’t forget to ask about social media. There is a wealth of potential information available that could make or break you case. You can’t afford to miss that information.
